Since 2021, this circuit has been on the Formula 1 calendar. Soon, the circuit captured the hearts of many Formula 1 fans because it is the fastest street circuit on the calendar. The Jeddah Circuit was designed by German Carsten Tilke, his father Hermann Tilke was involved in designing or renovating almost every F1 circuit in use today.

The first F1 Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit was on 5 December 2021. This race was won by Lewis Hamilton, who also drove the fastest lap with a time of 1:30.734. To this day, that is still the fastest lap driven at this circuit. In 2022, Max Verstappen won the F1 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

The circuit in Jeddah is not only home to Formula 1 races. For instance, the season finale of the 2022 World Touring Car Cup was also held here. However, the circuit was shortened from 6,174 km to 3,450 km for this purpose. The fastest was driven by Gilles Magnus in an Audi RS 3 LMS TCR, Magnus was during this race a teammate of Tom Coronel who drove the same car.
